The small chapel of St. Michael (Capela de São Miguel) lies in the Catholic cemetery of the Archangel St. Michael close to Tap Seac Square.
It was built in 1875 and is one of the best preserved buildings in Macau. It’s surrounding cemetery provides a serene spot close to the hustle and bustle of the main streets to Tap Seac Square, and is packed with all manner of interesting headstones.
The exterior of the chapel is painted in distinctive green and white. You are free to walk inside the chapel, which is has white walls and stained glass windows.
Getting There
The chapel is located just a short walk from the southern end of Tap Seac Square – up the Estrada do Cemeterio (you can see the green and white walls of the cemetery on on the slightly inclined road).
Tap Seac Square is easily walkable from the centre of Macau – you can walk from Senado Square in around 20 minutes (although if you are sightseeing – I’d allow for longer and take in some other sights along the route).

Buses: 2, 4, 7, 8, 8A, 9, 9A, 12, 18, 19, 22, 25
Alternatively – it’s also quite close to, and easily walkable from the Ruins of St Paul’s and Monte Fort from the other direction.
